The Commission for Faith Formation is a key component of the Kerala Region Latin Catholic Council (KRLCC) . It plays a vital role in nurturing and deepening the Catholic faith among the Latin Catholic community in Kerala.

To the measure of the stature of the fullfillness of Christ

The Commission’s main goal is to: Promote a strong, Scripture-based Catholic faith life among children, youth, and adults. Ensure that catechesis (religious instruction) is systematic, relevant, and aligned with Church teachings. Equip catechists (faith educators) with the tools, knowledge, and training they need. Foster a faithful, sacramental, and missionary spirit within the Latin Church communities.

Collaboration

The Commission works closely with Diocesan Catechetical Centers across the 12 Latin dioceses in Kerala. Parishes and religious congregations , to implement faith formation initiatives at the grassroots level. Other KRLCC commissions (e.g., Laity, Youth, Evangelization) to create a holistic spiritual environment.

Focus Areas (2024–2025)

Digital Catechesis : Developing online faith formation tools and virtual classrooms. Youth Engagement : Creating faith-based mentoring and leadership programs. Family Faith Building : Strengthening parents as primary educators in faith.

Key Functions

1. Catechetical Education

Designs and oversees religious education syllabi for various age groups. Supports parish-level catechism classes and Sunday schools. Helps integrate faith teaching with cultural and community life. 

2. Training Programs

Organizes workshops, seminars, and retreats for catechism teachers, parents, and students. Offers formation programs for parish catechism coordinators.

3. Faith Renewal Initiatives

Conducts Bible conventions, faith camps, and youth-oriented spiritual events. Encourages family-based faith practices (e.g., prayer, liturgy, daily Scripture reading).

4. Resource Development

Prepares and distributes catechism textbooks, digital media, prayer materials, and liturgical aids.
